Colores y Símbolos
Sus colores varían según la tradición: en la Umbanda suele ser el verde selva, mientras que en el Candomblé se utiliza el azul claro o el turquesa, a veces combinado con amarillo. Sus símbolos fundamentales son el arco y la flecha (Ofá), el Eruexim (cola de animal para espantar espíritus negativos) y los cuernos de venado. Se le representa como un guerrero ágil, vestido con pieles y adornos de plumas, siempre alerta y en armonía con el bosque.

Sus ofrendas suelen entregarse en la entrada de un bosque o al pie de un árbol frondoso, siempre con el máximo respeto por el entorno natural.

El Patakí del Cazador y el Pájaro de la Muerte
Cuenta un antiguo patakí que un pájaro maléfico enviado por las hechiceras (Eleyé) aterrorizaba a la ciudad de Ifé. Muchos guerreros intentaron abatirlo con múltiples flechas y fallaron. Oxóssi, con una sola flecha y una concentración absoluta, logró atravesar el corazón del ave en pleno vuelo, salvando al pueblo. Por esta hazaña, fue proclamado el Rey de la Caza y el dueño de la puntería perfecta.
Enseñanza Espiritual

An ancient pataki tells that an evil bird sent by sorceresses (Eleyé) terrified the city of Ifé. Many warriors tried to shoot it down with multiple arrows and failed. Oxóssi, with a single arrow and absolute concentration, managed to pierce the bird's heart in full flight, saving the people. For this feat, he was proclaimed the King of the Hunt and the master of perfect aim.
